The Oldest Clown in the World

Photographs by Vova Pomortzeff

At the age of 85, Oleg Popov has been called the oldest performing clown in the world. His circus career has started almost 70 years ago and he still tours and has no plans to hang up his trademark red nose. Oleg Popov was one of the most popular clowns in the Soviet Union during the second half of the 20th century. For the last twenty five years he lives in Germany with his second wife Gabrielle Lehmann. Last spring the legendary Soviet clown has presented his new circus show and went on a new tour to Germany.
